I called 311 – they said that filing an opinion to the Mayor had to be related to something specific that the Mayor had said or put in writing (press release). They said instead to write or email the mayor a letter for other concerns.

For the DOE, they forwarded me to the DOE complaint line, where someone at the DOE took my complaint and said that someone (parent co-ordinator) would get back to me within 5 days.

I got the same answer – they forwarded me to the DOE complaint line, where someone at the DOE took my complaint and said that someone (parent co-ordinator) would get back to me within 5 days.

Good summary of the 3 proposed plans from Wednesday’s meeting: http://dnainfo.com/20091119/manhattan/parents-protest-charter-school-expansion-on-lower-east-side

Strange question but needs to be asked: “Girls Prep Charter School, which currently shares a building with P.S. 188 and P.S. 94, has requested more space from the DoE in order to expand its middle school program.”

Does the DoE have the option to say, “No. Sorry. There is no space for you to expand.”? Or is there some legal nuance I’m missing?
