Dear Shuang Wen families and supporters,
I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has worked so hard on saving Shuang Wen.
There are too many people to thank here but here goes: the speakers (Susie, Denise, Ms. McClung, Ms. Phillips, Jeanie, Saultan, Lynn, Ceci, Deborah, Christine, Ann and a few others that I’m forgetting or don’t know their names), the elected officials who spoke in support (especially Rosie Mendez), the folks who worked the media (Julie, Margaret and others), the people who handled mobilization and logistics (Mimi, class parents and many others), all who came to the meeting last night, the people doing the babysitting, the people who delivered the petitions and letters, and our amazing teachers.
It was important for us to be seen and heard. This was not accomplished by a small group of people; this was accomplished with 200-300 parents coming forward on short notice.
By the way, the DOE and elected officials have received hundreds of emails and faxes from Shuang Wen’s parents and supporters. The elected officials said that our parents are doing a great job and to keep going. Thanks to our web/tech team and everyone making calls, sending emails, signing letters, etc. You are having a tremendous impact.
There are plenty of people that I’m sure I’m forgetting and I’m sorry about that. I know that we’re all exhausted, and this comes at a personal cost to many of us. None of this is easy, but all of us will get through it because we support one another.
Thanks.
Trinh
