Dear Parents and Teachers,
On Wednesday, we made our voices heard at the Community Education Committee (CEC) meeting. Thank you to at least 250 parents and teachers who attended, spoke, and watched our children. It’s been 3 days and look at what we have accomplished:
- Created a website, a petition, a 311 script, frequently asked questions, notified 35 media outlets and held a press conference;
- Drafted and delivered 7,332 signed petitions and 3,000+ faxes to decision makers’ and politicians’ offices;
- Received supporting letters from numerous politicians;
- Got our story in front of English- and Chinese-language media
Proposed Next Steps
This battle is not over. The CEC will accept comments till December 10 and will then put out a report called the IMPACT report. We need more help. Please
- Send a thank you letter to city council members Alan Gerson, Rosie Mendez, Comptroller-Elect John Liu and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer. Visit Responses page to see sample letters.

Have you heard our voices? I say NO to the DOE’s plan for the Girls Prep Middle School which will overcrowd, disrupt, destabilize, and hurt District 1 children, most particularly the children at Shuang Wen PS 184M.
