Dear Parents and Teachers,
Thank you for delivering your letters and 311 messages in November. The politicians heard us and it was NOT ENOUGH. We are not done fighting. The DOE will accept feedback about the proposed plans until December 10.
We have a lot to do before December 10 and here’s how you can help:
- Come to the Parent Room 114 at drop-off and pick-up times on
- Thursday 12/3
- Friday 12/4
- Monday 12/7
- Tuesday 12/8 - If you can’t make it to the Parent Room, then make the calls or write the letters yourself – see directions below.
Bring your cell phones and be ready to write letters. We will have a parent volunteer present to guide you on how to contact 311, the DOE and your politicians.
Here are the updated messages to use:
- Shuang Wen is the 2008 US Department of Education’s Blue Ribbon School of Excellence serving as a model for other schools throughout the nation.
- We are calling you because of a crisis that was caused by the Chancellor’s desire to create a middle school in District 1 for a city-wide charter school, Girls Prep, that does not serve District 1. The Chancellor’s plans for Girls Prep will take space away from us.
- DOE supported our growth and success by giving us our own building. Taking away our space will destroy all of this.
- PS 184 Shuang Wen will have no projected space as it complies with the DOE mandate for growth. Shuang Wen has grown nearly 50% since 2006. Taking our space away will destroy our school.
- The DOE needs to throw out its formula because it does not take into account the educational needs of all children.
- Dismantling our public and privately-funded art, language, science, music and dance rooms to make room for another school will demoralize our students, teachers and parents.
- The Chancellor needs to find a solution for charter schools that does not deprive children in flourishing DOE schools.

- Call 311 – please keep calling before 9 am or after 5 pm and let’s show them that we have not stopped our campaign.

- Contact your Politicians — please go to take action to view sample letters. Personal letters are more effective.

女子預備學校，但是他們都不屬於第一學區的學校。局長對女子預備學校的計畫將會奪走我們學生學習的權利。- 因為得到教育局的支持和鼓勵，我們終於擁有雙文學校獨自的空間。如果奪走雙文學校的教室，即是毀壞我們今日的成果。
- 雙文學校沒有任何多餘空間給教育局所謂的“計劃”。
雙文學校自2006年開始增長近百分之五十。奪取我們的空間，將會毀壞我們多年來所建立的成果。 - 教育局須否決此方案，因為他們沒有考慮到學生的教育需求。
- 為其他學校的空間問題而奪取家長們資助的美術、語言、科學、音樂及舞蹈教室，將會導致我們的學生、
教師及家長們陷入混亂的情況。 - 教育局長需要為特許學校的擴展尋求另一個解決的方案，而不是剝奪學生現有的資源。
