admin : 12/01/2009 5:49 pm : Home, TAKE ACTIONDear Parents and Teachers,
Thank you for delivering your letters and 311 messages in November. The politicians heard us and it was NOT ENOUGH. We are not done fighting. The DOE will accept feedback about the proposed plans until December 10.
We have a lot to do before December 10 and here’s how you can help:
- Come to the Parent Room 114 at drop-off and pick-up times on
- Thursday 12/3
- Friday 12/4
- Monday 12/7
- Tuesday 12/8 - If you can’t make it to the Parent Room, then make the calls or write the letters yourself – see directions below.
Bring your cell phones and be ready to write letters. We will have a parent volunteer present to guide you on how to contact 311, the DOE and your politicians.
Here are the updated messages to use:

We need to make lots of NOISE. Express your opposition to the Department of Education’s plan to squeeze another school into Shuang Wen. Politicians will respond to lots of calls, faxes, and emails!
- Suggested message:
- To the DOE: Please stop your plan to impact both the kids of Shuang Wen PS 184M and District 75 by squeezing them into one building. Both the Mayor and Klein cite Shuang Wen PS 184M as a successful role model for NYC schools. This plan will overcrowd, disrupt, destabilize, and hurt all children affected.
- For an opinion to the Mayor: The Department of Education plan will hurt Shuang Wen PS 184M and District 75 kids by squeezing them into one building. This must be stopped and please don’t say that you are deferring to Chancellor Klein. Shuang Wen PS 184M wants to continue to serve as a successful role model for NYC schools.
- Request #1: Take a moment to sign the petitions online NOW.
- Request #2: Attend the meeting at P.S. 20, 166 Essex St. (corner of Essex & Houston Streets), on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009 at 6:00pm.
